Malletech Mallets

In 1982, Leigh took over the manufacturing of his marimba mallets and three of the greatest mallet players in the world (Bob Becker, David Friedman and Dave Samuels) joined the effort to establish the first brand of mallets devoted to serious keyboard percussion players: Malletech was born.

Our Malletech Mallets section includes the following categories:

Eric Sammut Series

Eric is a rising star of both jazz and classical marimba worlds. He is noted for his unique and expressive compositional and improvisational style. His mallets feature a distinctive orange yarn, and unusually heavy heads for a very full sound, even at low dynamic levels

Bob Becker Series

Designed for solo xylophone use, both of Bobs plastic models are light, similarly weighted and easy to manoeuvre quickly around the instrument. The two rubber models are extra heavy producing powerful, pure xylophone tone without the contact noise. The 4 models give the a xylophonist an unprecedented range of tonal shadings.

David Friedman Series

These mallets have a unique large bronze core that increases the mass of the rubber mallet head without affecting hardness.

Leigh Howard Stevens Series

The nine models in the Stevens line are the smooth rolling mallets for solo marimba playing. All the mallets feature super-soft long lasting yarn and select birch handles.
