Silencer is the most demanding percussion ensemble piece for six players from this series. The music requires two competent snare drum players of approximately grade 4/5 standard and a dynamic timpanist with good intonation and pedalling skills. All the other instruments showcase challenging orchestral techniques and sounds. The piece also makes use of several 'silent' bars to give the music poise and excitement.
