A great exploration of the prolific sound qualities of the vibraphone, this work was inspired by the images of large ice "Floes" and the reflections of these giant ice statues on the surrounding waters. "Floes" reflects this imagery with rich harmonic language and timbre. This challenging piece requires four mallets as well as a bow, and makes use of many contemporary performance techniques.
